Vincci Albayzin Hotel

We left feeling that the price was too high for what the hotel offered, and the stay didn’t feel like a four-star experience. The location is good and parking is available, but getting into the parking area is difficult because it’s very narrow and poorly managed. The short-term parking by the entrance, supposedly limited to 10 minutes, was almost always occupied. We ended up parking on the sidewalk and risking a fine because check-ins weren’t handled well. Reception also couldn’t help us book dinner at the hotel restaurant, saying reservations weren’t their responsibility. We found somewhere else to eat, and I’d actually recommend doing the same. When guests arrived, both reception staff sometimes focused on one person while others waited. This was a low point compared with our other stays in Andalucía. There are better options in the area.

We had a great breakfast, and the on-site restaurant and bar were good value. Drinks at the bar came with free tapas. The hotel is perfectly placed for exploring Grenada on foot, and the staff were friendly and amazing. Our clean, comfortable rooms had all the towels and other things replaced daily. Underground parking is a bit tight, but it was a godsend given the other parking options.

Breakfast was a good-quality buffet with plenty of variety, including omelettes made by the chef. The room was a reasonable size and comfortable, with tea and a kettle, a minibar and pump-action soap and shampoo. There was also a safe and some hanging space, though no coffee or milk. The hotel sits on the main Boulevard up to the old town, beside a beautiful church and across from several restaurants and cafés. There’s a lovely fountain to the right, and the main street leading to the main Square to the left.

The property itself is lovely and the location is great, but our stay was very disappointing. We’d booked a junior suite and discovered after settling in that the room directly above was being renovated. Workmen jackhammered from morning until 7.00pm over two days. We complained to management, as did guests in four other rooms. We were moved, but only to a small room where we could still hear the jackhammering. The online difference in room rates was over $300eur, yet we were offered just $80.00 back and no compensation. Apparently all the bathrooms are being renovated while the hotel remains open, so be very cautious when booking.
