The rooms are clean, though they could do with a renovation. Service was very nice, and the hotel is generally fine.

The room's condition was upsetting from the start. We chose this place for its apartment feel and kitchen, but it was filthy, below even average home standards. There were FINGER NAILS by the sink and dirty utensils. After seeing that, I couldn't stop wondering about the sheets and the rest of the room, and felt uncomfortable even getting into bed. I went out myself to buy disinfectant spray to feel at ease. We had booked a superior double room expecting one double bed, but got two single beds pushed together. They kept sliding apart and were really uncomfortable. We told the staff and were promised a change, but nothing was done. The room also went uncleaned for two days, leaving us without fresh towels or toiletries. I had to ask for and collect replacements from the lobby three times during our three-night stay. We had no 'do not disturb' sign, and told the staff more than once that the room needed attention. I tried to speak with staff and sent emails, but got no reply. Disappointment hardly covers the service or the cleaners' poor work. I'm very unsatisfied and will avoid this hotel in future.

The room itself was basic but nice, and housekeeping did a fantastic job. The staff were lovely and accommodating for the most part. Food was nice too, though they charge extra to bring it to the room. Parking on the surrounding streets is free, but finding a space is a real struggle. The hotel has its own free car park, but the entrance is steep and narrow. Getting in was bad enough, and climbing out made my heart stop as the tires screeched up the steep drive. I can't believe we got out without scratching the car. We used it once and never again. There was a bad damp, swimming-pool smell as soon as we walked in. The spa was broken, so that might have been why, though I don't know. We couldn't use the spa during our stay. My agency had booked this hotel by mistake instead of its city-centre one. After visiting the other property first, I found this one much worse. The other hotel was willing to move my booking, but this reception said they couldn't because I booked through an agency. I'm not sure if they could have made an exception, but it threw off my plans since I hadn't expected to stay in this area. The area isn't very attractive to me, and it's quite a drive to get anywhere. There was no full-length mirror in the room, apparently in any room, which seems crazy. A section of the bathroom ceiling was broken and lifted whenever a breeze came through or the door opened. It terrified my kids, and for a moment I wondered if someone was coming in and out through the ceiling. The hotel is expensive for what you get. Whewww, what a place.
