The reservoir is ideal for water activities, and if lake swimming is what you’re after, this is a good spot. There’s a bar and restaurant on site. The campsite itself is limited, with just a few motorhome pitches, and they’re cramped and on tarmac. The price reflects that it’s a basic stop: 22 euros for one night, a van, two people, and electricity.

We just had ice creams and drinks, but the place looked lovely. There was a huge group of children there at 5.30pm, an awkward time in Spain, so we didn’t end up eating. The waiter was really helpful and called us the ice cream family, which is pretty fair! It was cool inside, and the terrace had decent shelter from the heat. If we’re back at the beach, we’ll eat there.

The lake itself is lovely, but the site was dirty, and the toilets were unpleasant. If guests are expected to clean them, it’s no surprise they don’t get cleaned. I wouldn’t wash dishes there either, and the showers are old. Prices felt high compared with other places we found in Andalucia. For a campervan and two adults it was 15€, plus a compulsory 5€ for showers and electricity, even if you don’t want those. 20€ is a nogo, so we left after 1 night.

We went back after it reopened under new owners, and what a difference. The food was excellent, with a good range of tasty choices, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely return to eat there.

A nice spot for a beer and snack, with plenty of shaded tables for hot days. The staff are quick and very friendly, and there’s a great view over the lake and beach.
