Hostal La Balsá

Rocío was a great host. Since I have mobility issues, she put us in the better ground-floor rooms, let us leave our bags after checkout so we could enjoy lunch, and suggested a car service that worked well for us. The location is hard to beat. The square is fewer than 15 small steps away, and restaurants, museums, the church, and souvenir shops are all just a few meters from the door. The bus station is a three-minute walk, and there’s a panaderia next door for an early bite, which is handy since the restaurants don’t open until noon. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and very quaint. Just be aware that showers can get noisy at night and the stairs creak, which might bother you if you’re sensitive to sound. Still, a great place in a beautiful pueblo.

Rocío, the owner, is a delight, and the hostel is spotless. The rooms are spacious and warm, with comfortable mattresses and pillows, and the bathroom is decent. It’s right in the center of La Alberca, beside the main square. You’ll need to park just before the town center, about a five-minute walk away. For breakfast, I’d go to the "La Nogal" café. For dinner, "El Porrón" has spectacular ham and cheese and delicious pork dishes. La Alberca is beautiful, and the Christmas decorations make it even more charming. I highly recommend staying here.

Rocío was friendly and attentive, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, and well air-conditioned. The location is excellent. If we come back to La Alberca, we’ll stay here again.
