Hostal Carlos I

The people were kind and helpful, and the rooms and bathrooms were big and clean. It's a good option for a short stay, with restaurants right nearby, a bus stop not far away and the Gibraltar border a five to seven-minute walk away. Noise was the big problem. The hallways echo and amplify sound, and people weren't considerate of each other, so we heard guests walking around, talking on the phone and slamming doors all night. I'm not sure whether quiet hours are posted, but guests could be reminded about the noise. Also, our double bed had one long pillow running across its full width. I find that uncomfortable, since I'm used to having my own pillow.

The restaurant was fantastic, with some of the nicest food I've ever had and extremely friendly staff. The hostel itself is a nice, cheap place to stay, with both beds and camping available. It has free WiFi, and a bus stops right outside to take you into town. I can't remember the exact fare, but it was reasonable.

The staff were pleasant, and our twin room actually had two twin beds plus a double bed, along with an en suite bathroom and towels. It's in a quiet street, excellently placed about a five-minute walk from the Spanish-Gibraltar border. On the way there's a beautiful fountain that changes colour.

A nice, modern hostel in the centre of La Linea, with air-conditioned rooms and Gibraltar a short distance away. For two people it was 40€ for one night, or 20€ for one person. THX!
