We had the fireplace running full blast on the second night, after buying more firewood at the nearest gas station. We’d already bought some before arriving, but the house was so cold that we needed more. Drafts came through the doors and windows, and the downstairs living room and kitchen were freezing. The underfloor heating was off downstairs, and the only extra heat was a small oil-filled radiator. They said it had been left on since morning, but it was nowhere near enough for such a large open-plan space. Outside, temperatures dropped to 5 degrees Celsius. Upstairs, the heating was programmed and couldn’t be adjusted. The bathroom was 15 degrees, the bedroom 19, and the heating didn’t always come on. The bathroom heating was off too. The water stayed lukewarm on the first day and ranged from lukewarm to cold on the second, even though we followed the handwritten note and let it run. We contacted the property manager and called again, but they didn’t sort anything out. Instead, they suggested we buy firewood from them. The owner and intermediary offered no real help, though the house does have heating, as they assured us before arrival. We stayed for two days in December, and these conditions were unacceptable.

It was awful having to shower in lukewarm to cold water on the second day, on top of the lack of heat downstairs. The central heating was on upstairs only, and the tiny radiator they left downstairs barely warmed anything. We contacted the rental company, but they didn’t help and only suggested we buy firewood ourselves. Thermal comfort is essential in a rural rental. I just hope they hadn’t switched off the downstairs heating to save money.
I spent 11 days here for work and had everything I needed. It was amazingly peaceful, with parking right outside the door, and I’d highly recommend the place to couples wanting a quiet mountain getaway. Best to get in touch with the owner directly, though. The company handling it through Booking.com is completely incompetent.
The village is dreamy, tucked right into the mountains, and the location was fantastic. My partner, our dog, and I stayed for a weekend this past October 20th, and we were delighted with the house. It’s beautiful and really cozy, with underfloor heating that made walking barefoot comfortable even in the cold. The host shared hiking routes and places to visit. They’d also thought of so many little things when we arrived: coffee, sugar, salt, oil, a freshly baked cake, and treats for our dog. We’re so grateful for the warm welcome and lovely service. I’ll recommend them to everyone I know, and we’ll definitely come back. Thank you again!
La Nava is such a peaceful place, and the house felt like home. We stayed at Casa del Río for four days over the All Saints' Day long weekend. It was comfortable and had everything we needed, and Jesús was a very kind host who was always ready to help. Thanks for everything, Jesús. Ana and Carlos will be back.
