Check in Leon - Hostel

I wouldn't recommend this hostel to pilgrims on the Camino who need a good night's sleep. It's a city hostel with mostly tourists, and quiet hours from 10pm to 8am don't seem to matter to them. When I was there with friends, people spent two hours eating chips from 10pm, and others sang into their phones. I got no proper rest.

A big room has about 20 bunk beds, so there are 40 beds in total. It's mainly aimed at backpackers, though anyone can stay. The bathrooms were clean, the beds were okay, and the curtains gave some privacy. For a low-priced hostel, that's really appreciated. My scores: location 7/10, beds 8/10, privacy 9/10, staff 10/10, check-in/check-out 10/10.

I stayed two nights for 11 euros a night. The bunk was roomy and relaxing, and the side curtains made it feel almost private. The owner is busy keeping everything clean and tidy. He does the washing and drying for 3 euros each, then quietly leaves your laundry by your bed while you're asleep. I also loved having coffee in the lounge during the day with the nice jazz playing :)

The owner was very friendly and helpful, and everything was clean and well maintained. The beds have curtains and are spaced apart enough to feel comfortable during COVID. Laundry is available too. I know this part of town from longer stays and find it acceptable. It's about a 10 minute walk to the Cathedral area, and the price reflects that. My one complaint: six or so drunk guys woke the whole dorm at 2am and acted obnoxiously for at least an hour.
