Hostal La Numantina

Ivan made us feel very welcome and check-in was easy. After a long day's walk on the Camino de Santiago, Hostal La Numantina was a great place to spend the night. The rooms were very clean, and breakfast was included at a nearby restaurant. It's conveniently located near plenty of bars and restaurants. Most of all, when our rental car wasn't available, Ivan found us a driver to take us to Leon and made sure we were looked after. Thank you, Ivan. We really appreciated it!

The location is good, and the staff speak English and are kind of friendly. There's an air conditioner, which I didn't use, but it could be handy in summer. The room is very small, with poor sound isolation. It also wasn't cleaned properly. I could smell vomit left by previous visitors, and the white towels had dirt stains. I stayed for a day during my Camino, hoping to get some privacy and rest away from the noise. If you're a pilgrim, this place might be perfect. For a vacation, though, I wouldn't recommend it for the price.

The beds were comfortable, though the room was basic and a bit expensive for what it was. It was clean, quiet in our room even with a party in the street, and had A/C and very hot water. The toilet space is small. It's close to the Camino but still in town, with easy access to restaurants, a farmacia, and a grocery store.

The renovation wasn't mentioned in the hotel description when we booked. We ended up walking through a dusty plastering work site, and the place was in poor condition. Reviews on Google Maps show other guests had flagged this for months, but we didn't see the warning when booking through a third party. The owner then responded to my review by lying about the current renovation. I don't see how guests could accept this if it wasn't disclosed at booking. That unprofessional response felt dishonest and offensive, and betrayed our trust. There was no sign on the buzzer or facade to show what floor the hotel was on, so what good is the elevator? See the pictures. Seeing is believing. This hostal isn't giving guests who choose it the full information they need to make a fair choice. Stay somewhere else until the renovation is done.
