Hostal Residencia Casa Juan

We stayed at Casa Juan for a karate competition in Lorca. It's a basic hotel, but everything was as expected, and el Jefe was very flexible when we needed something.

A good budget option if you're coming to see the sights.

It's private and close to the city center.

This is a guesthouse, not a hotel. The room was small but adequate, while the bathroom was genuinely tiny and had no sink. The mattress was awful. Nothing was soundproof: we could hear every last detail from the next room, along with the street noise through thin, single-pane aluminum windows. The plumbing was seriously noisy, with loud pipes and the washing machines and dryers in the next room making it impossible to rest. There was a strong smell throughout the room, and the bathroom odor was so disgusting it made me nauseous. Parking was a problem too, since every space was paid parking. Accessibility was poor: reception is on the first floor, and rooms are on the first and second floors, with no elevator and narrow stairs. The stairlift takes up so much room that you can't reach the handrail, and you have to carry luggage up and down. One night was bad enough; three nights felt insane, with all the noise, smells, and the mattress making sleep impossible. We paid €90 a night because it was Easter week, even though we stayed after Easter. The website lists €60, but they charge €90 when booking alongside other Easter dates. That's excessive when you don't even get a morning coffee and croissant, for example.
