We only had one night here, and my group was sorry we couldn't stay longer. Goyo made us feel welcome, and he's a wonderful cook and an easy, patient person to talk with. The place itself is lovely, with hills and stars all around, a riverbed to hike along, a porch to sit on, and animals you can pet.
The guesthouse is a renovated Cortijo, kept in great shape, with roomy apartments, shared areas, and a well-equipped communal kitchen. A nice hiking trail passes right by. It's tucked away and peaceful, yet beaches, the desierto de Tabernas, and plenty of other trails are all within about a 45-minute drive. Goyo, the owner, knows the area well and is very helpful. A place I'd happily recommend.
Finding it takes you a little off the way, but it's so peaceful once you're there. The owner doesn't speak English, but he made a real effort to welcome us even though we don't speak Spanish. We had a lovely traditional Spanish breakfast before setting off on the three-hour drive back to Malaga. I'd stay again if I were nearby.
Slept better here than anywhere else all week. Lovely hosts, good food, and welcoming doggies made for a great night out in the desert.
Already missing this beautiful, private desert escape, and the food was great too.
