Hotel Ciudad De Lugo

This is a large apartment-style hotel with a suite of rooms, and the service was friendly. It takes about 12 minutes to walk to the centre. The showers had strong pressure and plenty of hot water, but the beds weren't very comfortable.

It's a clean, pleasant budget hotel about a 10-minute walk from the main city area, and the apartment is dog-friendly. You can pay €6 for garage parking, or try for one of the outdoor spaces if you're lucky. The tiled apartment felt a bit cold, though there's a radiator you can switch on and off. The kitchenette works well for cooking and has a mini fridge. The bathroom was comfortable and clean. The living room furniture was a little old, and the restaurant food was quite budget.

The breakfast was superb, and staff across the hotel were great and spoke English well. It's a short walk into town. The hotel itself is clean, tidy, and great value. Lugo was a bit disappointing, though. It has a complete Roman wall you can walk around, but the buildings inside and outside it feel at odds with the historic setting.

We spent four days in one of the apartments. The location is perfect, and the price can be good if you book at the right time. The WiFi in the apartment was very unreliable and poor. Reception staff varied a lot in friendliness, depending on who was in charge. The kitchen utensils were inadequate, and we had to ask for more. Shame on you: emergency exits on every floor were blocked with old furniture and cleaning carts.
