City Center Apartments Sol

We could walk to the sights and plenty of highly rated restaurants, so we never needed the metro. The place was spotless, and the host was quick to respond. Its central spot looks right over Sol Square. Thanks!

We had a comfortable apartment with two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, and living room. Three separate AC units kept it cool in August, and the shower had what might be the strongest pressure in Madrid. Check-in was easy, with plenty of towels, a hair dryer, and an iron provided. The one hassle was a required €200 cash deposit. I had to make an ATM trip, and won't get it back until the last day of my trip. The location is hard to beat: right in Puerta del Sol, about ten steps from the Route 1 Hop-On/Hop-Off stop and within walking distance of lots of major sights. A solid place to stay.

The apartment was clean and quiet, but it faced inward, so there was no balcony or outside-facing view. This review is specifically about Apartamentos en Sol Confort 5. The AC reset itself to 26 degrees both day and night, and there were sensors all over the apartment. I wish the owners explained on their website what they are and what they do. Service was awful. We told them we'd arrive at 4:30 pm, but the gate code wasn't activated until 5. We were left standing outside in Puerta De Sol square for half an hour, exhausted from traveling and wanting to rest. Wi-Fi used vouchers, but they hadn't given us one before check-in. We could only contact them by email, and the code didn't arrive until later that night. We were due to check out on Sep 21st, but they cut off our Wi-Fi on Sep 20th, so we had to request another voucher.

The price was surprisingly accessible, and the apartment itself was modern, recently renovated, and furnished with new pieces. We had a fantastic four-night stay, and I wouldn't look elsewhere next time I'm in Madrid. The location is amazing, probably the best in the city. Highly recommended.
