Unico 3 Dormitorios en Puerta del Sol

I've stayed here several times for work and have always been satisfied. The rooms aren't very large, but they're comfortable and well furnished, and the staff are kind and always ready with information or advice. The hotel is just a few metres from the centre and close to the city's attractions. Sol Station is nearby, making it easy to get around by public transport. Excellent value for money.

The location is handy, just a short walk from the main landmarks, so exploring the city was easy. The stay itself was disappointing, though. Our room wasn't properly cleaned, the bathroom smelled unpleasant, and the area was extremely noisy at night. With no double glazing, it was hard to sleep even on weekdays. The Wi-Fi was slow and unstable, below what was advertised. There were also unexpected charges. We chose the hotel partly because its website said breakfast was included, and staff confirmed that at check-in, but we were charged extra for it at checkout. They also added a single-use room surcharge even though two people were checked in and staying. The final bill felt like poor value, since better places were available for the same price. My parents, who travelled with us, had the same unpleasant experience with extra charges. I'd like to think it was an oversight rather than deliberate, but it felt uncomfortable and misleading. I wouldn't return.

Right in the city centre, just a 2-3 minute walk from the main square, and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The rooms are basic but clean, with a very comfortable bed. The two pillows were different sizes and materials, and neither was comfortable. The shower had brilliant water pressure, though there was no fan to clear the condensation. There's a mini fridge with complimentary water, and an iron available. The balcony access felt dangerous enough, so be careful with children. It's a very safe area with a police station below the hotel. Staff and guests could get loud early in the morning, which woke me every day.

It was quiet and clean, and the hotel seemed well run. The front desk staff were really helpful and nice, too. Getting around on foot was easy, with everything close by.
