The beds were the main problem for me. I asked for a queen so I could sleep beside my partner, but got two captain beds pushed together. They were on wheels and kept rolling apart, leaving a gap I could fall into. Also, try for a room that doesn't face the main streets: the lack of a view was actually a plus because it meant less noise. The location is great, and I love Madrid. The reception area was lovely and the front desk staff were great. Our room was pretty good, though the shower head was clogged with mineral buildup and some towel holders were coming off the wall. It’s a decent stay, but you’re paying for the location.

We’d stay again. The bed was comfortable, the room was lovely, and breakfast was fantastic. It’s central and handy for transport links. We were at the front of the hotel and it was a bit noisy at night, and tea making facilities in the room would have been nice.

Gran via has a Broadway in New York feel, and we could walk to all sorts of places to eat and visit. The hotel is central to everything, and I’d highly recommend it. Our room was spacious, clean, and amazing. The main drawbacks were weak WiFi in the room and noise coming through from other rooms.

We paid extra for a city view, but the outlook was disappointing, so I wouldn’t pay the supplement again. The other issue was noise through the thin walls: a couple next door were on loud phone calls into the early hours. I called reception, then ended up knocking on their door myself at 1:30 a.m. The hotel is a little dated, but exceptionally well maintained and spotlessly clean. Rooms, service, and location were excellent, and breakfast had plenty of variety and was good quality. I’d still come back.
