The staff were very kind. Housekeeping cleaned our room daily, and when our flight wasn’t until 22 o’clock after the 12 o’clock checkout, they let us leave our luggage at reception. The host also called a taxi for us. We waited outside, but he came all the way down to say traffic meant it wasn’t coming and helped us catch another one.

The staff were kind and helpful, and the location is central, within walking distance of most major sights. But I wouldn’t return. The rooms felt dated and weren’t thoroughly clean, and the soundproofing was so poor I could hear everything from the corridor and nearby rooms. There’s no lift, and the stairs were in bad shape, making the climb up three floors quite an effort. The area is very touristy, especially at night, with lots of clubs and bars, and it can feel dodgy.

At least the rooms were clean, and staff came to clean up after the incident. But the stay was frightening. We booked three nights, and on the second night other tourists let strangers into the hotel when they returned from a club at 2 am. A drunk or drugged girl kept yelling and kicking things in the room and hallway. People were crying and shouting out there until we called the police, after first contacting reception and getting no help. The police arrived with medical assistance and escorted the strangers out because they were too drunk or drugged. The rooms are small, the walls are very thin, and we could hear people coughing and talking as if they were in our room. It’s an old building with old pipes, and we had no views, just interior walls. The location is good, but I’d suggest paying more for a safer, quieter hotel.

I’ve stayed here twice, first about ten years ago. The location is right in the middle of the capital and hard to beat, and the price is very good for that. Rooms are cleaned every day, and there’s a fridge in the room, which is a nice extra. If you’re a light sleeper, ask for a quiet room at the back. Check-in is at a sister hotel a short walk away. The building is on the third floor with uneven stairs, so it’s not suitable if you have mobility problems. I asked reception for a kettle and they brought one the next day.
