Hostal Astoria

At check-in, every guest had to give personal details, including email and phone number, supposedly for police registration. They didn't clearly explain why they needed the information or how they would use it. Our room was about 17°C when we arrived, and extra blankets we requested because of the cold turned out to be just bedspreads, which weren't enough. Starting around 7:30 in the morning, the building's plumbing and showers made constant noise that came right through the room and kept us from resting. For €216 a night, those conditions felt completely out of proportion to the cost. The stay fell short of both the price and what we expected. I wouldn't recommend it.

The rooms are kept clean and well looked after in this renovated hotel. It's in a perfect location, with easy access to every part of the city.

The rooms were clean and partly renovated, but the hotel is undergoing serious renovation and even using the elevator was difficult. There are five flights of worn stairs, so be careful if you're traveling with older people or children. We had a booking problem, and the woman at the front desk was aggressive and disrespectful instead of trying to help. She wouldn't give her name. Hostal Astoria needs to correct this behavior. The first impression was awful, and I highly recommend choosing another hotel if you want a pleasant stay.

Getting to the hotel the first time was a bit of an adventure, and the building's elevator had its own issue. If its door is left open, it won't respond when you press the buttons. We stayed for three nights. The room photos were a little misleading, but things turned out okay. The bathroom is so small that using it feels like playing twister. The receptionist was kind and accommodating, even reprogramming the door so we could have two keycards.
