We had a bit of trouble at check-in figuring out how to get in after hours. Between 22:00 and 08:00, you ring the bell and a friendly concierge comes to escort you to the hostel and get your key. The location is great, and otherwise it's a very nice budget option.

The owner, Irena, even offered to sew a hole in my sweater, which shows how far the staff go to help. They're very friendly, keep the rooms clean, and answer questions about the city. The place is in Madrid Centro near the Gran Via metro station. It's great to have somewhere like this in Madrid, and I highly recommend it.

I woke up after my stay with around 20 bites on my legs. A pharmacist and a doctor both confirmed they were bed bug bites. The hotel might look clean, but the mattress and bed linen were old. My room smelled musty, and the bathroom was tiny and could have been cleaner. I left after one night and asked for an official complaints form in the morning. The staff member I spoke to said she didn't know where the forms were and was generally unhelpful and unapologetic. I plan to take this further with the relevant authorities because failing to provide a requested complaints form is illegal in Spain, and bed bugs are a serious public health risk. I was still charged for the room despite raising the complaint, which I find totally unacceptable. I'm following up with the manager this week. I'd strongly encourage people to stay elsewhere.
