Hostal Santa Barbara

The receptionist was friendly, and the room was okay for a short trip if you’ll mostly be out during the day. We stayed with a friend. There was just one accessible socket for charging our phones, and the Wi-Fi didn’t reach our room. The bathroom was rough: poor lighting, a shower that was falling apart, and a bath that didn’t look like it had been cleaned recently. Still, it was manageable. The balcony door wouldn’t open, though I’m not sure if that was deliberate. It didn’t matter much since we were there in October and nights were fairly cold. I tried not to dwell on whether the sheets were fully clean. Otherwise, it was decent.

At €50, I’d have given it three stars. The rooms are old and very basic, and the bed isn’t great, but it does the job if all you need is a place to sleep and shower. The location is very good. We paid €100, though, and for that price it wasn’t worth it. You can find more recently updated, better equipped rooms with better service.

For what you pay, the room was comfortable and clean, so the value is good. Just be careful about your check-in time, since there isn’t staff there permanently.

It took a bit of figuring out how to get in, since it’s on the third floor to the right. The location is good and close to most things, and the rooms do the job.
