Room Mate Macarena, Madrid Gran Vía

The hotel was clean and well organized, and the location right in the heart of Madrid made it easy to get to lots of attractions. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Whenever I asked reception for something, it arrived right away, always with a smile. I highly recommend staying here and will choose it every time I visit Madrid.

That rooftop terrace looking over gran via was a highlight, and the facilities throughout were outstanding. The manager was warm and attentive, and the staff were fantastic. With such a great location, this was easily the best hotel stay in Madrid for me. I can't recommend it enough.

The terrace is still pleasant, though it doesn't have the same charm for me, and even the entrance and elevator used to feel more inviting. I've stayed here for years because the central location works so well, but this visit was the first that left me with mixed feelings. The room wasn't cleaned properly each day, and it no longer had the fresh smell I remembered. They now offer a refillable bottle that you have to fill with tap water in the lobby instead of the sealed bottled water from before, which I find inconvenient. The reception staff weren't especially friendly either. Check your final bill carefully, since I was charged for breakfasts I hadn't eaten. Madrid has plenty of other good hotel choices, although prices have become extremely high.

Breakfast had a nice range of choices, and the room itself was clean and attractively decorated. The staff were polite, too. My main issue was the layout: it seemed designed for someone traveling alone, since there was almost no privacy around the shower and bathroom.
