THC Latina Hostel

I’d stay here again and recommend it for the price I paid when I booked. The room was extremely clean and nicely styled, and the staff were very friendly. It was the best value I could find in Madrid at the time for a private room with a shower in such a central spot, despite the small size and no-frills feel. Most major sights were a comfortable 10-30 minute walk away. Rooms that don't face the street are actually quiet. The single bed is only 90 cm wide, which doesn't feel like an acceptable industry standard anymore. The mattress was okay, but close to needing replacement. The free cancellation deadline was misleading. Like many Spanish hotel sites, THC showed “12:00” and the date, which looks like noon, but cancellation had to be completed by midnight the previous day. Checkout is at 11:00, and guests can keep luggage in the room until 14:00. After that there is luggage storage, but it’s inconvenient: the nearest facility is 400 meters away and charges at least €16 for small bags or €20 for larger ones, effectively adding to the stay’s cost.

It felt very safe, with three locked doors between the entrance and our room. The location was quiet but close to cafés and activities. Our bedroom and bathroom were small but clean, and the beds were comfortable. The staff were very friendly and even lent us a kettle and cups so we could make tea.

Check-in is listed as 17:30 to 23:00, but even during those hours there may be nobody at the desk. The owner texts on WhatsApp to ask when you’ll arrive, then comes by for about ten minutes to check you in. Checkout is 11 am, and luggage can only be left until 14:00. Those limits aren't made prominent on the reservation pages, and I don't consider them normal for a hostel. I had to book somewhere else. In my view, the setup is meant to collect paid bookings without actually providing service. Read other travelers' reviews and stay far away. Do not book this hostel. It is a scam.

The people working here were incredibly welcoming and kind. Our room was lovely and quiet at night, and we had a wonderful few days. I travel a lot, and I'd recommend this hotel. I’ll definitely come back.
