Apartamento San Pablo

The location was handy, about a 10-minute walk to the tube station and close to most amenities. But the apartment itself was lacking. A nearby cockerel kept us awake all week, starting an hour before 4am and carrying on afterwards. There were ants and dust everywhere, and the floor needed a proper clean. We were given only two towels for four adults, so I had to go out and buy more. The old couch dips in places and was difficult to sleep on. The washing machine was the only real plus, though I had to buy detergent for it, as well as shampoo and shower gel. The blocked, slippery shower was hazardous, with a lump in the middle of the tray. There were no instructions about rubbish disposal either. I've stayed in cleaner, nicer and cheaper apartments.

I felt very safe there on my own, and the neighbourhood was lovely, lively and in a great spot. The apartment had everything I needed for my stay in Malaga. Thanks so much to Silvia for the clear messages and easy check-in. I'd definitely come back.

The apartment itself was great, apart from the shower draining slowly. But we were robbed, and that's why I'm leaving a negative review. Our valuables were gone when we returned, including bags, clothes, electronics and one passport. We hadn't opened the window, but it was open when we got back, and the burglar had come in through it. The gate doesn't always shut properly, and there are no cameras, so anyone can get into the building. I didn't feel unsafe, but having no staff there day to day and no cameras shouldn't be acceptable.

Sonia, one of the apartment owners, was absolutely brilliant when my purse was stolen with all my money, bank cards and the apartment key inside. She brought me a spare key, lent me 200 euros and trusted that I'd repay her when we got back to the UK. Her kindness really touched me, and we had no way to get any other money. We stayed in room 4, which was clean and tidy, and good value. It wasn't large, but had everything we needed. I also enjoyed sitting outside the room and chatting with other guests. We struggled a bit with the doors, though we're older and not great with technology. The old town was about a 10-minute walk, which was harder for my husband because his Parkinson's Disease has slowed him down. I should have researched that better before booking. It's a great place if you're fairly mobile, comfortable with technology and travelling on a budget.
