Aparthotel Spa del Palacete, Historic Center

The bathroom smell kept getting worse, and I wish the teas had been replenished when the room was cleaned. Otherwise, the suite was lovely and cozy, with plenty of snacks. It’s in a quiet alley, yet just a minute’s walk from the center and all the activity. Taxis don’t come right to the hotel door, so you have to walk a little. The receptionist was really lovely too.

Room 101. The location was good, the receptionist was friendly, and they let me leave my bag until my flight. But the shower flooded the bathroom, I only got about one towel, the bed was so uncomfortable I barely slept, and the air conditioning was basically nonexistent. I can’t recommend staying here.

The beds were comfortable, the sheets soft, and the little kitchen and living area was well equipped. The drain smell didn’t bother us much; we put plugs in the sink and covered the shower drain with a wet towel. But you could hear everything in the downstairs two-bedroom apartment, from reception staff first thing in the morning to every guest coming through the hotel’s front door. There was no view, which made the place feel claustrophobic. I honestly wish we’d booked the ibis a stone’s throw away. We’d hoped to take our daughter to the spa, but it costs €24 per person. Ouch.

The massage ladies were nice, which is why I’d give this one star instead of none. Everything else was really, really bad. The amenities were poor, we had to shower in ice-cold water in January, and the receptionist had a bad attitude and no desire to help. The spa experience was a bit of an epic fail. It was an anniversary gift, so luckily we didn’t pay. If we had, we definitely would have asked for a refund. I don’t recommend it.
