Barceló Malaga Hotel

The guest services staff made our arrival feel extra special for the birthday. My friends and I stayed three nights for a girls’ trip, and the hotel was lovely with great staff. We’ll all definitely be back.

Great staff, and the hotel is close to a mainline station. The coffee pods are fantastic, but they’re bespoke and take a fair bit of effort to get refreshed. There are also nightlights on all night in every room, so an eye mask is needed. Both things are easy enough to deal with, though I do wonder if they belong in a four-star hotel.

The hotel and its facilities were very good, which made the room mix-up even more frustrating. We arrived late at night and at first the place looked beautiful, clean and well maintained. But the rooms we’d booked and paid for, including extra beds, hadn’t actually been reserved for us, even though the check-in staff knew the size of our group. They offered alternatives, but those still didn’t match what we’d paid for. There was no manager available to sort it out, and the problem stayed unresolved for our whole visit. If Barcelo can’t provide the accommodation guests booked and paid for, it’s hard to feel confident about returning or recommending it.

We got a picnic breakfast made for us because we were leaving early, and both the breakfast and staff were just as good as the room. The hotel feels thoughtfully put together, with lots of space, a huge comfortable bed, plush interiors and blackout blinds. There are full drink-making facilities and a shower you won’t want to get out of. The company clearly cares, and the staff showed real customer-friendly spirit. Thankyou, Commander Moon.
