Hilton Garden Inn Malaga

We enjoyed the stay, especially the breakfast, which was better than the one in Seville. The dinner was delicious and beautifully plated, and the restaurant staff were very nice and helpful. We had booked half board as HHnour members, and the meal included all three courses from the menu. It was actually too much food, since even the starter was the size of a main. Our bed was comfortable, as at other Hilton’s, and we got amenities like at a big Hilton, including the facial bar they used to give. The location is nearer the airport and the easy parking was useful for returning our rental car. We were on the fourth floor. Unlike the modernized Hilton-style lobby downstairs, that corridor looked a bit shabby and felt a little like Ibis budget. We also didn’t like the shower much. It was slippery when wet, and the materials and colors used were different. I wasn’t expecting Hilton resort quality from the Garden Inn, but I did expect the same shower as at Hilton Garden Inn in Seville, where we stayed three nights.

I stayed here with my sister and son, and the service was kind and helpful throughout. Check-in at reception was quick and easy, and the staff gave us useful tips and recommendations that made our visit more enjoyable. The restaurant team were especially polite and accommodating with my 4-year-old, which we really appreciated. Our room was clean and well looked after, and the housekeeping staff were courteous and kind. I’d gladly come back and recommend the place.

The room got uncomfortably hot because the air conditioning wasn’t working properly, and there was no fan. Still, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was good, and the water pressure was high. Breakfast cost €20 per person and was standard, nothing special. The hotel was clean and felt safe, and reception staff were helpful. For a short break in Malaga, the airport is close, about 10 minutes away. From the airport we took Bus A five stops for €4 per person, and I booked an Uber from the hotel to the airport for €8, also about 10 minutes. The metro station is around a 15-minute walk, handy for getting to the old town. Despite the heat in the room, it was a pleasant stay thanks to the location and friendly staff.

The restaurant food was very good at both dinner and breakfast. We stayed after Christmas, when the hotel was full because bad weather had led to cancelled flights. Unfortunately, our room’s heating wasn’t working, but Irene at the front desk found a portable heater that did the job. The hotel is well placed for the airport and bus, though they don’t offer an airport shuttle.
