Málaga Cathedral Rooms

The room was cold, with no heating, and I could hear everything through the paper-thin doors. We had booked a 35m2 studio but were given a regular 20m2 room. We didn't accept that, so we left, and Cathetdral rooms refused to refund us. We won't stay here again.

The building manager on site gave excellent service, but I wouldn’t stay here again. The room was basic and had an odor, and the air conditioner was noisy. There was no deadbolt or safe, and the power went out several times.

I was freezing in the room, and the shower had no hot water when I arrived. The bedding smelled bad, and the owner confirmed that the air conditioning could only be controlled for all the rooms from one room. I left at 2 am, even though I’d paid for 2 nights. On top of that, the owner told booking.com I hadn’t checked in, so they could keep the payment and avoid feedback. This place should lose its 3 star rating.

Carmen, the woman who helped us, was great. She handled check in professionally, and everything was clean. But the room was in very poor repair, with lots of chipped or broken items, including the toilet bowl, counters, trim and moldings. The paintwork was also poor, and the kitchen faucet was loose and wobbly. The plumbing uses a septic system, and there was a sewer smell. Worse, it came from the hot water when we turned on the tap, so we used bottled water and skipped showering and brushing our teeth. The smell made us feel unsafe doing basic hygiene. The electrics also seemed dangerous. The overhead track light kept flickering and buzzing, and there was no bedside light or switch, so with our very early flights we had to turn on the TV to get some light.
