The hotel looks stylish, and the staff were helpful with parking and luggage. The parking is in a public paid lot, about €28 a day, and coming and going adds to the cost because the first hours are more expensive. The breakfast team were friendly and thoughtful; the selection was decent, and the à la carte dishes were nice, as you’d expect at a hotel in this category. Room service was good too, especially the club sandwich and croquettes. The old town gets extremely noisy late at night, with people laughing and shouting until 2-3am. The bed was only so-so, and the towels looked worn and old. Cleanliness was my biggest concern: there was long blonde hair on the shower glass and conditioner bottle, which gave me the impression the shower wasn’t thoroughly cleaned between guests. That was a major shock for a hotel at this level. We booked through AMEX but got neither an upgrade nor late checkout. It’s the first time a late checkout request has been REJECTED for us on an AMEX FHR booking. At around €500 per night, the service basics and consistency fall well below what I’d consider acceptable for a hotel in this category.

The room was immaculate, and the hotel itself is beautiful in the heart of Malaga, a great base for sightseeing. The staff were attentive and friendly, happy to help with anything. Thanks for a first class stay, we’ll be back.

I expected a luxury stay, but this felt like an average old town hotel. I might have been satisfied with that if I’d received what I actually booked. I chose it for its historic building, whose architecture I understood was connected to the famous bridge in Ronda. I booked on Booking.com, then paid using a private link sent by the hotel. When I arrived, they said my room was in a newer annex rather than the historic building. I asked for a refund straight away and was refused. They told me Booking.com couldn’t help because I’d paid through their private link. In that situation it felt very misleading, almost like a scam. After the first night, they arranged a room in the historic building for my remaining two nights, but that didn’t undo the stressful, disappointing start to my holiday. I don’t blame the staff personally, they’re doing their jobs. To me, the problem lies with management and ownership, and apparently with business KPIs. What’s presented online and what guests actually get are completely different experiences. I’d strongly advise against paying directly through private links, and I wouldn’t expect the customer experience you might get from a larger international chain. This is a small local business where the customer experience doesn’t seem to be a top priority.

The hotel is on a pedestrian-only street in what’s arguably the liveliest part of Málaga, surrounded by cafés, shops, restaurants, and historic sites. Even with all that going on outside, it feels calm and refined once you’re inside. For a taxi, Uber, or similar, Farmacia Bustamante on the nearby square is an easy drop-off point. From there, it’s just a simple one-minute walk down pedestrian-only Calle Granada to the entrance. Check-in was warm and efficient, and we got to our room quickly. Requests were dealt with cheerfully and right away. A second luggage rack arrived within minutes, and they quickly unlocked the balcony door when we asked to use it. The place is beautifully maintained and everything looked and felt new, with an attention to detail beyond what I’d expect at this hotel category. It was exceptionally clean: no rubbish, stained carpets, chipped tiles, or scuffed walls. Furniture that showed wear seemed to have been repaired carefully. You can tell they put a lot of effort into maintaining the property. Breakfast was fresh and excellent, and the à la carte items were outstanding and came out quickly. I especially appreciated that they keep the plates hot, a small touch that improves the meal and that few hotels or restaurants still do. A couple of minor things could be better: the room could use an iron and ironing board, and either the coffee machine or china tea cups should be replaced. The cups are a little too wide for the machine and can slip when it dispenses hot water. Those are small issues unless you need an iron at the last minute or spill hot water while making tea. I’d happily stay here again and recommend Palacio Solecio to anyone visiting Málaga.

The staff were welcoming and incredibly helpful, and breakfast was delicious, with fresh eggs made to order and plenty of other choices. Some mornings we had to wait a bit, though. Our room was large and quiet, with older-style furniture, and we could keep it dark through the morning while on vacation. The rooftop bar is on the third floor of a separate building, so the view isn’t much. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in town and walk to everything.
