Staybridge Suites Malaga

Once we got inside, Mrs. Mar made the stay pleasant. She was an excellent manager, the staff were lovely, and the secure underground garage was huge and clean. As a Diamond guest, I had also expected an upgrade, but didn’t get one. Arriving by car was awful. The hotel sits on a busy one-way road, with cars and motorcycles right behind you and nowhere to pull over. There’s no place to unload, and the spaces outside were all occupied by local residents. We had to keep driving south through tiny streets and work our way back on other one-way roads. It took us 30 minutes just to figure out parking and luggage. There’s plenty of room in front of the hotel, but it’s blocked off.

The hotel is handy for the city center, with a park opposite and a Mercadona a short walk away. We paid €22 a day for the underground garage. Street parking can be hard to find, though we always parked on the street and felt safe. Parking near La Rosaleda Stadium is another possibility, about five minutes away on foot. Breakfast reservations are required because the dining room is small and gets crowded. That was new to us. The food was standard, but the woman working there was especially friendly. Housekeeping also has to be requested. It usually worked for us, but on March 4th, a Wednesday, we asked the front desk to clean while we were out around noon. The room was untouched when we got back, and we had to call again for fresh towels. Other reviews suggest this happens repeatedly. The location makes a good base in Malaga, but unreliable cleaning brought the stay down.

The old town is a bit of a hike, and the train station is even farther, though there are good restaurants nearby, including Pepe Leches and La Fria de Mar. The place is quiet and good value. The suites are spacious, clean, and well equipped, and the hotel feels modern. Staff are lovely, breakfast is very good, and free tea and coffee are available on the ground floor around the clock. I’d definitely recommend it 😀

The rooms were cute, comfortable, and so quiet that you’d never guess there were neighbors. Staff were lovely, and breakfast was really nice and convenient. It’s a great spot, about a 15-minute walk to downtown and the historic center. I came in with high hopes and wasn’t let down. Only thing missing for me was a gym!
