They upgraded us to a deluxe suite with an incredible view when we arrived. The grounds are stunning, and the hotel has such a cosy vibe. The stay felt absolutely magical, and I can’t wait to come back! Dinner was the one thing I didn’t love. If you eat elsewhere, though, it’s a great place for a romantic weekend.

Pedro and Sara were such welcoming, friendly, and helpful hosts, and the food was delicious. The views in every direction across the landscape are lovely. It sounds like advertising copy, but it’s true. Son Foguero was my best hotel experience ever. Great service, and I’d recommend it!

I’ve never written a review before, and I hate spending time on this, but even a month later I’m still angry. We paid €425 for one night, checking in on August 31 and leaving on September 1, my birthday. The stay ruined it. On arrival, ants were swarming over leftover food debris in the bathroom. The floor clearly hadn’t been cleaned. There was no duvet, just two thin blankets, and the mattress was extremely hard. The thin wooden windows and walls had gaps that let insects in, with almost no sound insulation. The bathroom door was cracked and the carpet dusty. At around 10:30 on the morning of September 1, the blonde, curly-haired waitress, Maria Catalina or similar, ignored us twice at breakfast. She served white couples who arrived after us, then two Asian guests who also arrived later, while continuing to overlook us. We smiled and tried several times to order. She was right beside our table but avoided eye contact and made us feel she didn’t want to deal with us, even rolling her eyes. She said, “You have to wait!!” We were angry and left without breakfast, then checked out around 11, about half an hour later. At checkout she was very rude and initially wouldn’t apologize. She repeatedly lied, claiming she’d said “Please wait,” which she hadn’t. When we asked her to apologize, she accused us of mocking her face. That was a baseless slander to deflect responsibility. While only half dealing with our complaint, she picked up the phone, spoke Spanish to a friend, and ignored us again until we pressed her repeatedly. She eventually offered a reluctant, insincere apology. Remembering it still upsets me; I don’t even want to think about it. When she realized we were checking out, she said, “Thank God.” Her behavior was discriminatory, dishonest, and unprofessional. She acted like a serial liar and should be dismissed. People like this shouldn’t work in hospitality. The hotel was understaffed and poorly maintained, far below any reasonable four-star standard. It’s isolated, with nothing nearby. Don’t book here if you value your time and your trip.

Son Foguero is charming and peaceful, with well-kept grounds and an authentic, relaxing feel. It’s a lovely escape if you want quiet. Just know the food is vegetarian only. It’s fresh and thoughtfully prepared, but there aren’t many options. They also seem short-staffed sometimes, which can affect service. The pool is nice but small for the number of guests, and at this price I expected a little more.
