Club Puerto Atlantico

We came for a long weekend to relax and did just that. Our fifth-floor penthouse suite was faultless, the pool area wasn't crowded, and there were always loungers free. The staff were friendly and helpful. I was a little disappointed that the roof bar/terrace was closed for works and that we couldn't get breakfast, since the restaurant only opened from 4pm till 11pm. Apart from that, I'd definitely come back.

We had seven good years here when it was a timeshare sold through "Ocean view management." Then management got greedy, doubled the weekly terms and demanded extortionate refurbishment payments from us. Now it's a hotel, built on the cash that "club members" poured into it over the years. Wonder if Her Kaiser is still a principal?

Nearly 13 years later, my wife and I still count our honeymoon at Club Puerto Atlantico as one of the best stays of our lives, and we've travelled LOTS. We stayed for the second week of our two-week Canaries trip, splitting it between what was then Airtour Beach Club (ABC) and Club Puerto Atlantico (CPA). ABC was fairly new and looked lovely, but felt snooty and the service was lacking, especially for the price. When we first arrived at CPA, its outside looked rough and made us a little nervous. They've since painted it, and it looks nicer. But all it took was walking inside to change our minds. Back then, General Manager Graham Hiscock, apparently no longer with the property, and his staff would do anything to make a guest's stay better. Graham wouldn't let staff approach guests about buying a timeshare at CPA. If you wanted information, you had to ask. That was VERY refreshing. The property was spotless inside, the staff were genuinely kind and caring, and no task was too much. They helped me book flights to and from La Palma, get a rental car, and contact several of the island's optical observatories, which was why we went to La Palma. Incredible. The rooms, restaurant, facilities and pool areas were all spotless, as was the area where Pedro, the resident parrot, stayed. Anyone who's owned a parrot knows what a chore that is. It sounds like they still have that caring attitude. People don't just buy weeks here, they buy units and come back at set times to reunite with friends on holiday. I highly recommend CPA if you want a quiet getaway and to be pampered by the staff.

The rooms are good, and the staff are friendly and helpful. If you're travelling with children, though, the TV has no channels for them to watch when they get bored.
