Riojania

We stayed at Casa Vacatio in Riojania in August 2024, and it was a real nightmare. The place felt badly neglected from the moment we walked through the garden gate. The gate was wired up because it looked ready to fall over. Maybe that was meant to seem rustic, but to me it was just a real shame. The photos online showing Casa Vacatio's charms must be from another time, because very little of that was left when we visited. Inside, cobwebs, spiders, and other bugs were everywhere. They kept dropping from the ceiling beams onto the table and beds. I know bugs are part of a nature park, but I expected them outside, not in the house. We bought and used two cans of fly, ant, and other bug spray in one week, and still ran out. The advertised Japanese bath isn't there, and neither is the air conditioning listed on several pages. The sauna does exist, but it was terrifying, with so many cobwebs that only the witch's train could beat it. We had a very bad stay and absolutely don't recommend Casa Vacatio. The critical reviews on booking sites are true, so please take them seriously. I hope someone from the Rioja Tourism Service, or whichever site is responsible for inspecting tourist accommodation in Rioja, reads this and visits Casa Vacatio. In my view, the house shouldn't be open to the public.
