Hotel Casa Vitorio

I rested really well here during the Camino. The room was spacious and clean, and everyone on staff I met was kind and friendly. There’s a restaurant just down the road with good food, and it seems like lots of locals eat there. It’s a quiet, pleasant place to stay, though the wifi was a little slow for the Zoom meeting I needed to make.

The hotel helped us arrange a canoe trip down a river, which was a great day out together, and I especially enjoyed the port and all its bustle. We wanted some proper family time away from the rush, and this was a lovely setting, with a beautiful pool and great views of the hills and countryside, plus the sea to the north. The family who ran the hotel made us feel welcome at every opportunity. It was convenient too, with easyJet flights from London Stansted to Asturias and only a 10 min taxi ride from the airport. We could stroll to a cafe for sidra or coffee, and the beach was a good walk but worth every step. We don’t really speak Spanish and got by, but English isn’t spoken in this area, as we expected and wanted. I’d highly recommend it to anyone wanting to immerse themselves in Spanish culture and fantastic scenery.

The breakfast sign said one cup of coffee, 3 slices of toast and one piece of cake allowed. It seems a bit in need of refurbishment, and if you just show up without booking it feels too expensive. I paid the same for a good 4 star hotel.

After a very long hike on the Camino, we stayed here on 13th of April 2014. The owners were absolutely wonderful to us, and this hotel saved the Camino for us!
