BG Hotel Caballero

The rooms are nice, and the staff and cleaning ladies are very kind. For the price, it's a good hotel if you can cope with the noise. The walls are thin, and every door has a strong auto closer that slams it shut. It might make you a bit angry the first few times. You can hear next door clearly if people talk just above a normal level, and loud thuds and slamming doors go on pretty late. I'm a light sleeper, and even earplugs plus two phones blasting white noise beside my head don't cover it up. I could still hear doors slam while writing this with earplugs in and the white noise at full volume. I know as soon as my neighbours get home for the night. If you're a heavy sleeper, you'll be fine, but if you sleep lightly like me, I'd advise going to bed late. Stay away if you're a light sleeper.

The junior suite was perfect, really 5 star class, and the building for the suites felt clean, modern, and private. The outdoor pool area was clean, well shaped, and looked very updated. A bit more soundproofing around the door would make the suite top notch. The spa pool area was a joke, though. There was one pool and maybe 5 seats to relax while swimming, so they're all taken if even one family is there. And believe me, there is. The saunas were a bit cold. It's only part of the experience, so no big deal. Dinner was like an overstuffed, super noisy buffet hall, with kids' favourites on the table: chaotic pizza slices and pasta. Breakfast was almost the same. People (Germans) came through like on a conveyor belt, with a constant battle for seats and food. The area and layout are simply too small for the crowds. Juices were almost water, and there were too many people with zero checks on whether you had half board, so basically you could have eaten free. The fried eggs were perfectly done, the bacon was good quality, and the fruit and vegetables like cucumber were fresh. The bread was fresh and tasty too. Still, I'd go again because of the room, location, and how easy the place is.

We had dinner at the hotel twice, and the €20 buffet was different each time, with plenty of fruit, meat, fish, prawns and sides. It may be cheaper to book a room with dinner included. Breakfast was varied too, with lots for both us and our two-year-old. The location made getting around easy: the beach is a short walk away, there’s a big Mercadona nearby with ready meals and a microwave, and we found plenty of parking and a playground in the area. The bus to the airport takes about 15 minutes. Our room was spacious and spotless, and the hotel has a lovely stylish feel. They left complimentary water each day along with the usual toiletries. We were also offered early check-in and late check-out, which was especially kind since we were there off-season and rooms were available. We used the small indoor pool, which was very nice. There are two saunas we didn’t try, a compact gym that can fit about three people but was usually empty, plus billiards and live music at the bar. A wonderful stay.

The area is very touristy, with lots of concrete, souvenir stores and bars that don’t have much character. That’s just how this part of Mallorca is, though. Inside, the hotel feels bright and welcoming after its renovation, and it’s only a few minutes from the beach. The buffet had a lot to choose from, and the local cheeses, cured meats and paella were our favorites. Some dishes looked more appealing than they tasted, and waiting for the elevator with a stroller could take a while. Still, it was a comfortable stay, and the staff were lovely, especially Fira. The food could use a little more flavor.
