Hotel Vista Odín

The place was clean and decent overall, and the staff were very friendly. Breakfast was okay, though every table I tried wobbled. You had to keep a wristband on around the clock, which got annoying. There was a faint high-pitched hum from the AC, and the thin door let in so much noise that it felt open. At times I could hear the kitchen washing dishes for ages.

We only had a couple of hours before our flight to Gatwick, thankfully. The foam mattresses felt clammy, and there were happy, shouting German guys having their jolly fun. The lift was tiny for a hotel with 200 rooms. Our room smelled of stale smoke and had a generously sized balcony facing a busy road. A wonderful three-star airport hotel.

The buffet breakfast and dinner were good, and the beach is close by. Staff did what they could to help, and the pool was nice, though heavily chlorinated. Our air conditioning failed and leaked in the heat above 30°C. We were moved to another room, but its AC was broken too. The fan staff gave us did very little, no other rooms were free, and there was no maintenance staff available. Luckily, we were only there briefly. The hotel seems geared toward German club 18-30 guests. The TV had only three English-language channels, all rolling news. There was the usual party noise, but at one point the hotel called the police to calm things down. Dogs barked at all hours in the nearby residential properties, and even from our room on the seventh floor we could hear them.

There was no fridge, and the bar wouldn't provide ice cubes for the room, even if we paid. So our drinks stayed warm! In response: We stayed in five hotels on the island, and every one had a fridge and gave us a few ice cubes. We did buy drinks at your bar, too, so you weren't going to go broke because of us.
