Vila Damunt Suites

We were sad to leave the two-bedroom apartment. The cathedral views were unbeatable, and the place itself was the most beautiful one I’ve ever stayed in. A big thank you to the two lovely women who checked us in, took care of us, and suggested restaurants.

The apartment felt like home during our few days in Palma. It was spacious, beautifully put together, clean, and in a perfect spot. Annie described it at check-in as somewhere between a hotel and an AirBnb, which fits. There are only seven apartments in the building, and its history is great; the online photos don’t quite capture how good the space is. From the apartment you look out on the cathedral to the left, the palace to the right, and the sea between them. Most places to see in Palma are an easy walk away. Despite being in a prime tourist area, Vila Damunt was quiet and peaceful, apart from a few hours when the Royal Family arrived for their holiday. We had the best viewpoint to see it happen. Don’t miss the rooftop area, it’s a lovely place to watch the sunset. There’s no traditional lobby or 24-hour front desk, but the staff went out of their way to make the stay great and arrange a taxi to the airport amid all the Royal Family pomp and circumstance. They clearly cared, which means a lot when you travel. After all that time searching for the right place for late July, my wife and I are glad we chose Vila Damunt. If we come back to Palma, we won’t look anywhere else.

The suites are lovely, with large, comfortable rooms, excellent decor, and everything spotlessly clean. It’s great value if you want to stay in Palma’s old town, and the staff were welcoming and friendly. The location beside the Cathedral and Royal Palace is probably the best in Palma. At midday on Saturday we photographed the changing of the guard from our balcony, with breathtaking views. We’d gladly return and hope to.

The rooftop has beautiful views, and the accommodation was clean. Vila Damunt sits right beside Catedral-Basílica de Santa María de Mallorca, which makes for a stunning setting. Dobromira and Aneliya were terrific, with helpful restaurant suggestions. I left some clothes behind, and they went out of their way to get them to my next hotel. Very professional.
