Cabot Hobby Club Apartments

We were disappointed and found the stay exhausting. We’ve been to the island and this area about twice a year, but this was our first time staying here. We spent 11 nights in September/October, first in a premium apartment and then a deluxe. The only difference was a side sea view compared with a full sea view. The main issue was the noise. Soundproofing is really poor, and you hear everything between rooms and floors. Some guests slammed doors and played loud music, so this isn’t the place for a quiet, relaxing stay. It’s not adults-only: in season there are lots of children and teenagers, while in spring and autumn the cyclists get up very early. We had a side sea view over a building site, where workers were there by 0730 most mornings. The apartments sit in a U shape around a central pool, down the Llenaire end of the port. It’s about a 10-minute walk to shops, bars, and restaurants. Tamarells beach is right in front, with lots of white sand, shallow water, sunbeds, and parasols. Renting two beds for a day cost 21 euro. The location is good, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The apartments are simply furnished, and we found the beds, pillows, and bedding poor, with very thin mattresses and hard pillows. The kitchenette had a small fridge, stovetop, microwave, kettle, toaster, and coffee machine. Pods and use of the safe cost extra. The shower was decent, but there was an awful smell from the drains. Our first apartment wasn’t very clean, and cleaning and towel changes happen only every three days.

We’ve stayed at the Hobby Club several times before without problems, so we booked again for August. This time, though, we couldn’t get a sunbed by the pool. The beach across the road was an option, but its sunbeds are very expensive, and it’s nice to have a choice. Noise woke us every day between 6am and 8am. We won’t stay again. I’ve read your reply, but the account of our stay isn’t right. We arrived on Monday 25th August and were given the worst room in the complex, directly facing noisy building work, so I asked to move. That room wasn’t cleaned, and we got no fresh towels for two days. On Wednesday 27th August we moved to another apartment, which had been cleaned and had fresh towels. No staff came to clean it during the next five days, and we weren’t given clean towels or bedding before leaving on Monday 1st September. We hardly saw any maids, and they seemed to be cleaning only apartments that had been vacated for new arrivals. Your comment about untidy rooms might apply to some guests, but not us. We made the beds and put the sofa bed away each morning, and the apartment was tidy when we went out. Cleaning staff left us no notes saying otherwise. Even if an apartment is untidy, clean towels can still be left and bins emptied. Neither happened for five days, which isn’t acceptable.

We had a great time and would come back. The location is amazing, in a quiet neighborhood with a quick walk to the center. The flat beach is easy to manage with a stroller. Our room had a private jacuzzi, which was great with our 8 months old baby since it was a bit chilly for the pool at the end of April. Staff were nice. The window handle in our room was broken. Staff checked it when we asked, but it wasn’t fixed. The room also wasn’t cleaned every day, even though we left the cleaning sticker out. It was cleaned soon after we asked in person.

We had a wonderful holiday. Our room had a private pool that the kids really enjoyed, and there were only a few insects in the room, which wasn’t a big deal. The room itself was clean and practical, and we slept very well. The area was very quiet, the location felt perfect and safe, and parking was easy in front or behind. The staff were very kind and helpful.
