The fire alarm went off at 3:00 am, and we had to evacuate with the other guests. Everyone stood outside in pajamas in the cold for 15-20 minutes. Someone had been smoking and triggered it. This was the worst hotel or hostel experience of our Camino de Santiago. We had booked a nonsmoking room but were given one that smelled so strongly of smoke that I got a headache. We went down to ask for a different room. Reception relayed the complaint to another employee, who said the room had been cleaned and all they could do was spray deodorizer. A woman came upstairs with us, told us to open the window, and sprayed the bathroom and bed. Once she'd gone, we had to shut the window because flies were coming in. If you don't smoke, don't stay here.

The bar just across from the hotel felt cosy and lively. The staff were lovely and helpful, especially the older gentleman who checked us in. He didn't speak English and we didn't speak Spanish, but he was warm and welcoming and did a brilliant job answering all our questions.

The bed, comforter, and pillows were good, and there was A/C. The bathroom was small but adequate, with lots of towels. The concierge was kind and helpful, though his English was limited. Google Translate came in handy. Breakfast is included, and after a good night's sleep we'll find our way back to the Camino de Santiago. This hostal is comfortable, but it's off the Camino and away from downtown, so that's why I lowered the location rating. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, but we were already in bed by the time they opened.

Free WiFi that worked and air conditioning were the main pluses, along with the location and nice staff. The room itself was basic, with poor pillows and a cramped, uncomfortable toilet area and tiny shower. Breakfast took ages, with just one woman handling everything at first, and I don't think it's worth the 4 euros. A coffee shop nearby or somewhere in the old city would be a better bet. The place seems to run on a tight budget, and reception can be left empty from around 10:30pm until midday. The location is pretty okay, much like the others.

Breakfast costs 5 euro and felt worth it for someone walking the Camino. The WiFi was reliable throughout the building, and Room 302 was spacious with a very comfortable bed and a nice attached bathroom. The sights and restaurants are about a 10-minute walk away, so it's a little out of the way. My main gripe was the A/C. It was 36 degrees that day, but even with it blasting at full power, the room only cooled to 25.1 degrees.
