Alua Tenerife

Breakfast had a huge choice of dishes and products, which I really enjoyed. We stayed for three nights in a spacious room overlooking the pool. The bed was made from two parts that kept separating, and the bathroom door wouldn’t close all the way. The bedding and towels weren’t changed, and the internet wasn’t great. There is hotel parking, but it costs extra.

The hotel restaurant was so good that we ate there several times and tried almost everything on the menu. The staff were very friendly, and guests get 10% off the whole menu. On our last evening, the chef came out during dinner, brought us dessert as a gift, and thanked us for choosing the hotel and restaurant. That was such a lovely gesture. Breakfast was delicious and varied, with baked goods, fruit, vegetables, about six kinds of cheese and sausage, omelets prepared different ways, baked vegetables and potatoes, an English breakfast, cereal, yogurt, tea, coffee, fresh juice, smoothies, and more. Our room was spacious and clean, with air conditioning, a small fridge, a kettle, and tea, coffee, and sugar replenished daily. There was also a TV with films, series, and other programs in Spanish. The roomy terrace had a table, chairs, and a clothes dryer, and was a great place to unwind in the evening. The volcanic-sand beach is only five minutes away. The views nearby are beautiful, and there’s a promenade for walks, plus lots of restaurants and cafes with delicious food and lovely people. I highly recommend visiting this place.

The pool was a good size for swimming, and the activities there were entertaining to watch, even though I didn’t join in. The animators were friendly, pleasant, and funny, while the bar staff made us feel welcome. I wasn’t sure what the all-inclusive deal covered until I checked the bar’s drinks menu. Tequila Sunrise and Sex on the Beach were included, while Mojitos cost extra. The drinks were really nice, with the alcohol adding to the flavor rather than overpowering it. Beer, whisky, and soft drinks like cola were also free. At the snack bar next to the pool bar, croissants, pizza, onion rings, dressings, and more were available all afternoon as part of the package. My girlfriend and I spent four nights at Alua Tenerife in a “My Favorite Club Double Ocean View” room. The room was lovely, with a spacious bathroom, comfortable bed, and a sea view between two hotels. We were welcomed with champagne, bathrobes and slippers, and a stocked minibar, all free as MFC amenities. The minibar wasn’t refilled, which was disappointing. Its drinks were available in the MFC Lounge or pool bar, but only during their opening hours, so I couldn’t get a cola or beer on the terrace after midnight. The bed linens were changed daily, but the spare duvets in the closet looked used and sweaty. At check-in, we couldn’t use MFC priority service because all the reception staff were busy, so we waited quite a while. They explained everything and gave us the meal schedule. The staff were very friendly and always greeted us with a smile. The food was much the same from day to day. Breakfast included eggs, pancakes, pizza, a sweet corner, fruit, and vegetables. There was enough to choose from, but not much variety. Meat and sauces changed through the week at lunch, and dinner was similar. I added salt to my food, which I preferred to it being too salty. We had an amazing few days, and the all-inclusive and MFC offerings were fantastic. I’d recommend the hotel and would happily return.

When heavy rain came with a storm on the Wednesday before we left, I woke at 01:15 to dripping water. My phone was soaked, and water had also reached my Samsung tablet, which no longer works. The leak came through the ceiling, onto the bed, and down the wall. My phone was in a leather case and escaped damage. At 04:00 my husband reported it at reception, and they immediately moved us to a one-bedroom apartment in another block. The staff were absolutely wonderful and helpful, but I still haven’t heard from the hotel insurance company about my tablet claim, or even had confirmation that a claim was made. We otherwise had a great stay at The Alua Tenerife and would go back, but I wouldn’t take room 1319. We were there for 10 nights in November 2025. First impressions were amazing, with a stunning reception and a huge room. The balcony was huge too, though the “pool view” we paid for turned out to be a view of the paddling pool. Our first buffet meal was really good, but the food went downhill after that. Meat was usually too tough, chicken too dry, and there was lots of fish. We’re not fussy eaters, but some days it was hard to put together a decent plate. The hotel is quite a walk from the main town. We did go down to the seafront and walk along to town, though there wasn’t a lot to see. We were after some sun rather than shopping. The weather was great until that storm.
