The staff were helpful and moved us to another room right away, but after what we found, we didn’t feel like staying in the building. A few hours after arriving, we discovered cockroaches all over the floor, wardrobe and kitchen sink, and even on some of our luggage. Our original room was old and poorly maintained, though we’d been willing to accept that given the low price. After reading other reviews, it seemed management wasn’t dealing properly with infestations or even basic upkeep, so we moved to another hotel. It was much nicer and only a little more expensive. This was possibly one of the worst hotel or hostel stays I’ve had.

The views depend on which side of the hotel you’re on, with mountains, sea or downtown in sight. You’ve got everything you might need right outside, and I’d put the place at four stars rather than three. It was very clean, thanks to the large cleaning team working around the clock, and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. I’d recommend it and will definitely come back.

The location worked really well, about two minutes on foot from the bus stop and 10-15 minutes from the city centre. I stayed for two weeks in one of the so-called “low cost” rooms. It was fine for what I paid, and if you’re lucky your room looks out toward Mount Teide.

The disabled suite on the ground floor was fine in the end, apart from the toilet that wobbled. It looked like some renovation had been left unfinished, and I had to buy a headlamp to cook. The cleaning staff were kind, as were some of the receptionists. Our first night was rough because a secondary school year-end group were still shouting and playing soccer in the hallway at 4 a.m. Late September seems much better: fewer crowds, no drunk guests, and even a few free parking spaces. Amazing.
