Apartamento Carragal

A welcoming owner has turned the top floor of an apartment block into a small hotel/alberge. The place is simple and clean, with a sitting room and cooking facilities. My room also had a little balcony facing the foothills of the Cordillera Cantábrica. Highly recommended.

It felt like a home away from home. The place was very clean and neat, and Pablo, the owner, was welcoming and helpful. 🤗🤗

The bedbug problem at this guesthouse in October was awful. There were hundreds of bites all over my body, and I had to leave straight away, losing a lot of money because of the situation caused by the conditions there. I was lucky to be in reasonable health and have no allergies. Otherwise, I could have been in serious danger without even knowing it. The owner admitted he had seen bedbugs in every room at some point, but took no responsibility for the public health problem in his business. He would not even refund what I had paid for the week in this damned guesthouse. I have never had such a terrible experience with any service in my life. People had come to Ribadeo on foot to work, and I spent more than I earn from working because of this horrendous service. It endangered the health and livelihood of everyone who passed through this pension without knowing that the service they paid for could put them in such a serious situation, so difficult to resolve. Infamous.

Disgusting. There was dust everywhere, the room was unbearably hot, and the bathtub was rusty. The towels smelled musty, and the sheets were ancient and covered in bug blood. Bugs were all over the sheets, mattresses and walls. The room also smelled of stale tobacco. I wouldn't go back even for a free stay. The health department should shut this place down. Absolutely disgusting.
