Latas Surf House

The teaching itself was frustrating, too. One instructor spent most of a lesson sitting in the water, offering only a few brief comments and catching waves instead of teaching. We left very disappointed; the experience fell far short of what we expected. We’ve taken lessons at surf schools in Bali, Sri Lanka, Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, and never had a different instructor every day. The constant changes made it hard to improve because each person taught different techniques, and sometimes we even seemed to go backwards. Although our group was small, the class schedule was still messed up. They blamed a large group for the problems, but if the schedule is already so full and disorganized, perhaps they shouldn’t take on more students.

Koa is a fantastic choice for surfers at any level. The beach is beautiful and natural, the setting is stunning, and the instruction is excellent. There’s also a warm, friendly, family atmosphere. I can’t recommend this surf school highly enough!

Dinner isn’t available until after 20:00, and I’d strongly suggest avoiding the restaurant because the food quality is low. It’s a nice place otherwise. I also watched the surf instructors from a distance in the ocean, and I’d question their professionalism. Their playful teaching style put other surfers at risk.

The surf house and school were great, and so were the instructors. Juanillo, Pau, Gaby, Jack, and Valentino did a great job coaching us at an advanced level.
