Casas Pepe Apartments & Spa- Adults Only

The apartments are pleasant and well located, and the pool area is clean and relaxing. Breakfast was good too. One useful perk is that you can remain in the complex until 5 pm after checkout, with a shower, towels, and soap available. The kitchen could use sharper knives, and it costs extra to use the safe already in the room. A longer stay includes a Spa visit, but everyone is given the same appointment, so more than 25 people can end up in a tiny space designed for at most 10. The Spa is empty about 90% of the time, as you can see from outside, so it’s frustrating that everyone is sent in together. Also, around 30% of the amenities advertised on the website don’t work. The apartment air conditioning only runs for a limited number of hours each day, so it gets too hot to enjoy the evening indoors. The water then stopped completely without warning. There was no way to reach anyone, since Reception is open only from 9-16, and the emergency contact said they would look into it sometime the next day. We complained by email and at Reception but got no response. It could be such a nice place, but these problems really let it down.

We’d stayed here a few years ago, so this time was a real letdown. We won’t come back. Our first week was at Gold by Marina, and there was no comparison. I’d pick Gold every time. The only reason we moved was that it had no availability for our second week. The bedroom wall and headboard had food on them. Some bedroom lights didn’t work, and the shower lurched from scalding hot to freezing cold. Room service meant fresh towels once a week and the bed cover pulled up, nothing else. The biggest problem was the heat. It was in the mid 30s, and the air conditioning ran on a strict timer. It wasn’t working properly either, and there was no way to pay for more hours. We were on the ground floor and couldn’t leave the door open because cockroaches came in. It felt like an oven, and we barely slept. A repair person eventually got it going, but it failed again at 8pm. Reception had closed at 5, and our emails, calls, and WhatsApp messages went unanswered. We were told the manager is almost never on site, so there was no chance to speak with him. The girl at Reception tried to help, but there was only so much she could do. Ask for a fan as soon as you arrive, and insist on one. Save your holiday and book somewhere else.

The apartment and grounds were clean, and the staff were always kind, apart from the receptionist. We’d paid for air conditioning, but it kept failing. After raising it with Reception several times, we learned it only runs for a few hours each day and shuts off around 4:00 at night. That was especially awful while trying to sleep, and this limit wasn’t mentioned during booking. What’s next, tap water that only works for a few hours?

The gardens and pool area are beautiful, and I’ve never stayed in a cleaner complex with such attention to detail. I also really admire the Eco approach. This was our third stay, and somehow it keeps getting better: the rooms have been updated, there’s a fresh water filter, the views are great, and the staff are the best I’ve experienced anywhere. The new breakfast room is lovely, with something for every taste, but breakfast should have stayed optional instead of being included in the booking. Would I come again? Absolutely.
