Hotel Anoeta

The garage was easy enough to reach and had plenty of space, but the air was damp and its smell stayed in the car. Ventilate it after leaving, because that moldy, humid air can’t be healthy. Free WiFi is available, and parking costs €9,00 a day. It’s a 35 minute walk to the city center, or 15 minutes by bus for €1,65, including the walk to the stop. For €137,50 a night, breakfast was extra at €8,80 p.p. The hotel calls itself 3 star, but a few amenities and a minibar with 4 star prices don’t make it feel like one. The corridors smelled musty, the carpets were dirty, and the walls were “hospital” white. Room doors were a little damaged. The place needs renovation and cleaning. Check-in felt like autopilot and we didn’t feel welcome. The second conversation with the receptionist was a bit better. On the last one, we were nearly checked out but still finishing up when she took a call in Baskisch, turned away from us, and didn’t acknowledge us or say goodbye. On Sunday at 7 o'clock, the terrace was set up noisily enough to wake us roughly. Our room was small, with an old, dirty, smelly carpet. We opened the window to clear the stale, smoky smell, but didn’t manage it. The furniture looked like it was from the sixties and was damaged. The small bed had a spring mattress that poked into my back, and one long pillow for two wasn’t comfortable. There were also two small pillows without covers, so we couldn’t use them. The “Hotel radio” system looked like it was from the sixties too, please remove it. The TV was about the size of a computer monitor, though most are much bigger now. The minibar was empty, if there would have been anything in it, at 4star prices. We could hear the neighbors talking even though they weren’t particularly loud, and when they showered it sounded like they were right beside our bed. The room did have air-conditioning and an opening window. The bathroom was very small. It seemed clean at first, but needed a proper clean like the rest of the hotel. The taps and fixtures were old fashioned. The toilet seat was loose and banged loudly when you sat down. The toilet paper hung beside the bathtub, so it gets wet when you shower. Watch the water temperature too. It switched from normal to extremely hot and back again within a fraction of a second, over and over. We found by experimenting that not opening the taps all the way made it happen less. There were enough amenities and the towels were decent quality. There wasn’t breakfast staff apart from the receptionist behind her desk. The breakfast room was a somewhat odd, dark, cluttered space with tables and a cart full of junk. The coffee seemed questionable, like instant coffee, and the rest of the small buffet wasn’t as good as other breakfasts I’ve had for the same price. Sorry, but this wasn’t even 1 star for me. Not recomendable unless you want to go back to the sixties at 2025 prices.

The sheets smelled terrible and had a huge urine stain. The rooms were dirty, and cleaners tried to come in even though the door was locked and the do not disturb sign was up.

I’ve been coming to this hotel with my parents since I was a little girl. Now I bring my husband and son, and the service is still very good every time. We’ll be back!

Clean and quiet, and right across the street from Anoeta Stadium. A good hotel, though it’s a little far from downtown San Sebastian.
