The flat is spacious, very clean, and well looked after, right in the center near shops, bars, and restaurants. It’s a shame, because I won’t stay here again when I return to Tenerife. If you have a rental car, the free parking isn’t really usable unless you’re allowed to drive through the restricted traffic zones. You have to cross one to reach the apartment, and you could get fined. Luckily, Google Maps warned me when I picked up the car. I ended up using paid underground parking at Intercabiador, under the bus station. It’s a 14-minute walk away and costs €15 a day, but it’s covered and guarded. There weren’t any basics like salt, sugar, or oil, unlike in other apartments I’ve stayed in in Italy and elsewhere. The coffee machine had no capsules, either. I had to call the owner to find out which ones it took, then go buy them myself. Getting in was also confusing the first time if you’re not tech-savvy. They send a WhatsApp link that only works at your stated check-in time. You slide a bar on your phone and wait five or six minutes for the entrance door to open, then go up to the first floor and use another bar near the lock, again waiting five or six minutes. Luckily, a cleaning lady kindly showed us how it worked. The main entrance uses a regular key, but the apartment door has a small chip card that you place on the lock. The upstairs neighbors shouted and sang loudly late into the night, and threw things in the courtyard room where the washing machine is, under the owner’s covered veranda. The drains from the apartments above are exposed and run through that covered terrace, so you hear water whenever someone uses a sink or toilet, day or night.
