The staff were terrific, thoughtful, warm and helpful, and even arranged an easy refund when my stay was shortened. I had a comfortable, affordable ensuite room with a lift. It’s a quick €9 taxi ride from the bus station, or you can take bus 13 from right outside towards the centre, with the beach along the way. The quiet, friendly neighbourhood has a very good cafe, la Turtelia, a bar and restaurant, La Cocina de Mutate, and a supermarket, Mercado, if you want to go local. Keen to return when I’m up North again. Thank you.

A very good value stay, with a clean, comfortable room and very nice staff. Javier was kind and helpful, so count on him. The bus stop is right in front, making it easy to get downtown, and the beaches are within walking distance, with stunning views. Fully recommend.

We loved staying here. It was about seven minutes from the centre by car, and if you don’t have a car, the bus stop is right at the door. We’ll be back.

I stayed at Hotel Mataleñas for one night during the Europa League Final. I needed to check in early so I could get to Bilbao on time. The team did what they could to help: my room wasn’t ready, but they gave me a key and put my bag in the room, so it was all set when I got back late. The room was clean and had everything I needed for a night’s sleep. Many thanks to the team at Hotel Mataleñas!

The room was cozy and looked nice, and having parking was a big plus. The man at reception was very kind and helpful, including when we were trying to book a table at a restaurant.
