Soho Boutique Palacio de Pombo

The ferry was cancelled due to weather on the morning I was due to arrive, so I contacted the hotel straight away to ask if I could cancel or move my booking. I was coming to enjoy a night in the city before a planned departure with Brittany Ferries, and the situation was beyond anyone's control. Instead of helping, the hotel stuck to its cancellation policy and told me to contact booking.com, where I'd booked. I did, and submitted a request, but the hotel denied it, hiding behind booking.com. I said I hoped to stay another time. They could have offered a credit for a future visit and meal, but chose to keep the full night's rate for a no-show instead. It's not about the money, it's a bad attitude toward hospitality. I've run and worked in hotels, and this isn't how you manage guests or make more money. It tells me this isn't somewhere I'd stay on my next visit to town. Buyer beware!

We were only there for one night, but it was a great choice. The hotel is beautiful and well kept, with lovely, helpful staff and a great spot in the old town. There's a fabulous tapas bar across the road, and the market and food court are just a few steps away. The railway station is an easy walk with suitcases. I'd definitely return.

A beautiful, clean hotel in a nice building, with very friendly staff and a generous, tasty breakfast. It's close to the bus and railway stations, and there are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. Mercado Del Este and Santander Prehistoric Museum are close too.

The location is excellent, and the staff were polite and helpful. My room wasn't spacious, but it had all the facilities I needed apart from slippers.
