The quiet setting was a welcome surprise, and I really liked discovering on arrival that the lodging is inside a church. It has a serene feel and a lovely chapel, even though I’m spiritual rather than religious. The rooms are new, well kept, comfortable and a good size, with a simple minimalist style. It’s about a 20-minute walk from the old town, away from the crowds. The staff were very helpful, and I had a wonderful stay. I’d highly recommend this place.

The breakfast was delicious, with fresh, high-quality continental items. Just remember to request it by 9pm the night before. I’d happily stay here again, and I’m already recommending it to everyone I know. The building’s former life as a convent gives it a beautiful, peaceful atmosphere, and I’d love to spend more time here just relaxing and reflecting. Our room and beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was great, and everything was spotless. It was quiet at night, so we slept really well. The front desk staff were kind, welcoming and so helpful. We also got to hear the nuns singing, which was an out-of-this-world experience. It’s a short walk back from the centre, across the park, and felt pleasant and safe for us to walk at night. We didn’t mind the distance at all, especially to get away from the crowds. Thank you!!!
Even though we found mosquitoes in the room in June, when nights were still quite chilly, I’d still give this place five stars. Casa Diocesana is a truly special, unique place, and we can’t wait to return. It’s so peaceful that it feels like being in the countryside instead of the city. We liked the simple, restful room. It was basic, but clean and comfortable. They don’t speak English there, but we were fine with that, and it added to the charm. We’d highly recommend it.
After walking the Camino, this was a really restful place to stop and reflect. I was glad there was no TV in the room, and the chapel is beautiful. The lounge is well equipped and has a TV if you want one. Our room was spotless and there was plenty of hot water. Breakfast was fresh and more than adequate. It takes about 12 minutes to walk to restaurants and 15 minutes back into Santiago. The hotel doesn’t serve lunch or dinner. There’s a well-stocked vending machine at reception, though it had broken down on the night we stayed.
The people here were wonderful and extremely helpful. We really got to know them, and they were happy to call a taxi for us. We were staying after finishing the Camino, along with other pilgrims. Breakfast was excellent, and there’s a student cafeteria a short walk away if you want coffee or a bite to eat. The hotel is within the University Santiago de Compostela, a bit of a walk from the city, though after the Camino it felt like nothing. The former convent rooms are clean but rather austere and spartan, with nowhere to put luggage except on the floor. A little more storage would have helped.
