PR Pazo de Agra

The location is great and the owner is very friendly, but this place is not worth waking up covered in bedbug bites. The sheets looked very dated, and there was a smell in the hall and room, maybe mold or a dead rodent. We checked the mattresses and they looked new. We'd read the reviews and assumed the issue would have been dealt with by the time we stayed, but it hadn't. We even slept in our silk liners just in case, and they didn't help. I woke up covered in bites on my legs, arms, face, neck, and chest. Some were very bad and blistering. It was our last day on the Camino, and it turned into a nightmare. This is just one of the bites, but I'm covered in them. Avoid this place at all cost!

The host was great and helpful, and the location put us right in the heart of town, close to everything. The property feels dated and needs maintenance, though, and there were odd smells in the reception area and stairwell. Our room had a tiny ensuite bathroom; another room's bathroom was directly outside our bedroom door. There was no air conditioning, and with no screens on the windows, we had to choose between opening them for airflow and dealing with the noise. Guests were loud at all hours, and we couldn't sleep.

This is a simple pension, just right if you need somewhere to rest between sightseeing and other plans. The service was great. The toilet was outside the room, but that had been clearly explained before I booked, so there were no surprises. I'd happily recommend it and stay again if I return to Santiago da Compostela.

The owner and staff were friendly, and the location is great. But both sets of towels we got had a strong, unpleasant pilgrim smell, so they need a better wash. Bring your own shampoo if you want some.
