Linares Rooms Santiago

The location is very central, but the hotel is right on a main street and was loud at night from both traffic and people outside. There’s no air conditioning, so we had to keep the windows open. The rooms are tiny, especially the bathroom, and none of the doors closed properly.

The apartment I was given was in Rúa de Entremuros, and the receptionist was very helpful. It’s close to the Cathedral and right in the centre, so finding restaurants and places to see won’t be a problem. There’s a pub nearby and it can get a bit noisy. I can sleep anywhere, so it didn’t bother me, but I thought I’d mention it. I took off one star because I don’t think the place is cleaned thoroughly enough.

We completed online check-in and had booked a room before the blackout, but when we arrived we couldn’t get into the building or our room. After a while we managed to enter and found four envelopes with keys for other guests, but nothing for us. We were left without a room and had to sleep on the floor. When we contacted the property, they said they couldn’t express any regret about what happened. We found that very disappointing.

We booked a bunk for one night and it was just right for a good rest after finishing the Camino hike. The location is convenient, there was plenty of room for our bags, and they provided a bath towel for free. The mattress was the best we’d had at any hostel on the Camino, so we slept really well. You can also leave your luggage in the lobby. We’ll definitely come back.
