Pombal Rooms

We had a lovely view of the cathedral from the downstairs outdoor area, and the location was great. Our room, right at the front next to the road, was unbearably hot when we arrived. We left the air conditioning on while we went out, but it didn’t work, and with the window open all night the street noise kept us awake. The shower fitting wouldn’t stay in place and sprayed water all over the bathroom. Breakfast was very basic.

The room was good quality and had a very nice view. There was a hair dryer too. I just wish the beds were a bit softer.

Irene was incredibly helpful after I made a confusing booking mistake. I’d left my things in the room, but I hadn’t actually booked a second night, and she went above and beyond to help me sort it out. She also served us a healthy, generous breakfast. My room was clean and comfortable, and even though I could see the Cathedral from it, it was very quiet. For a two star place, the treatment felt like five stars. I’d gladly recommend it and stay again.

We felt safe, check-in and check-out were easy, and the beds were comfortable. The room was reasonably priced and had its own bathroom. It was only a five minute walk to the Basilica and the price was the best we found. But we’d booked five months ahead and requested balcony doors, then got a top-floor room with a roof window instead. It was extremely hot during both days we stayed, and the air conditioning wasn’t working.
