A reasonably priced bed and breakfast that’s good for what it is. The setting is lovely, but if you’re staying more than a couple of days, you really need a car. You can walk easily on mostly quiet roads to the Altamira cave and museum, as well as Santillana del Mar. The staff speak little English but are extremely friendly and helpful. I’ve had better breakfasts, though this one was fine.

I wasn’t satisfied with my stay. We booked through a hotel box, but didn’t get what our package said we would. The homemade breakfast was cakes wrapped in foil, and the room wasn’t very clean. All in all, it felt much too expensive. I wouldn’t really recommend it.

The musty smell in the room and the unwelcoming attitude made for an unpleasant stay, and it wasn’t somewhere I could relax on holiday. I wouldn’t recommend it unless the better-serviced hotels are full.
